Elkhart Openings


Area Director

Location: Elkhart Club

Full Time/Salary Exempt – Benefit Package

Hours: 8:00am – 5:00pm Mon – Fri., Schedule may fluctuate week to week

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of supervisory experience required. Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a role overseeing school-aged children in a group supervision setting. Reliable transportation, safe driving record, driver license, and automobile insurance required.

Duties:

  • Uphold the organization’s mission and values
  • Encourage and mentor staff; ability to adapt and be flexible
  • Knowledge of youth development strategies; must have sound judgment regarding safety
  • Manage multiple priorities and tasks including effective time management and attention to detail
  • Able to effectively build a high performing team; group leadership skills, including motivating and inspiring
  • Must be confident and adept at conflict resolutions strategies
  • Knowledge and ability to use a variety of resources to plan and implement new learning programs
  • Develops the Program Manager, Site Supervisors, and other program staff’s leadership and decision making skills by identifying and providing training and workshops
  • Ensures all designated programs and activities support Youth Development Outcomes and support designated benchmarks to empower our youth in character development, healthy life skills, academic enrichment, and service to community
  • Works with the Unit board and subcommittees to plan, organize and implement special events to support the mission of the Club, including procurement of sponsorships and maintaining positive donor relationships
  • Manages and monitors the Club sites to ensure a healthy and safe environment and that all equipment and supplies are well maintained; ensures compliance with organizational policies
  • Assists Human Resources with recruiting, selecting assigned staff and volunteers, ensuring productive and effective performance; ensures compliance with organization policies; manages and provides professional development for staff and volunteers
  • Maintains daily communication with the Program Manager and Site Supervisors to receive and provide information, discuss issues, explain or interpret guidelines/instructions and advise or seek counsel; provides Senior management with department updates and solicit feedback as needed
  • Maintains communication as needed with school personnel, members, parents, community partners and Boys & Girls Clubs of Elkhart County departments to promote and ensure programs and services are meeting established standards and requirements

Goshen Openings


Cafeteria Assistant (1 Needed)

Hours: 2:30pm – 6:30pm Mon. – Fri. 20 hours per week

Location: Goshen Boys & Girls Club; Goshen

Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Previous experience in food preparation preferred.

Duties : Assists with preparing, serving, and delivery of food/snacks to appropriate location. Able to follow safe-serve procedures and help clean-up in cafeteria areas. Confirm food handling and preparation procedures are followed, area is kept free from hazards, and that equipment is in good working condition. Physically able to lift, push, pull, carry or otherwise move objects between 15-25 pounds on a regular basis. At times objects can be as heavy as 40 pounds.

Director of Education

Location: Goshen Club

Full Time/Salary Exempt – Benefit Package

Hours: 10:00am – 6:00pm Mon – Fri., Schedule may fluctuate week to week

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in education required with MA preferred and 2 years of previous supervisory experience. Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a role overseeing school-aged children in a group supervision setting. Demonstrated competence and experience in the Education Field. Must have the ability to work with children, volunteers, sponsors, and assist with events. Reliable transportation, safe driving record, driver license, and automobile insurance required.

Duties:

  • Make informed critical decisions; assists in establishing and disseminating the Learning Center and Fine Arts department procedures
  • Ensures Fine Arts Supervisor/Education Supervisor and youth development professionals are able to articulate the Club mission, Core Beliefs and Core Characteristics, Youth Development Outcomes, Core Programs and the Youth Development Strategy
  • Supervision of Learning Center programming including but not limited to Indiana Kids; 21st Century Scholar program; homework help; PowerHour Plus and/or other Club specific learning or educational grant programs
  • Develop and maintain partnerships and coordination with Goshen Community Schools
  • Develops and oversees education integration throughout building
  • Oversight of Fine Arts programming
  • Direct the annual Youth of the Year competition
  • Develop and implement camp programming at the Cabin
  • Develop, implement and maintain Volunteer Plan within Goshen Club (recruit, train, engage, recognize, evaluate)
  • Implement and maintain college intern program
  • Offer training services for Clubs requesting assistance
  • Create educational and training materials/opportunities for Goshen staff
